 Ernie Els finished tied for fifth at 11-under par. "The Big Easy" hadn't played in the PGA Tour's annual Torrey Pines event since 2005, when he tied for sixth.  Southern California natives Rickie Fowler (left) and Phil Mickelson played together in the final round, and they conversed with each other often. Here, they chat after teeing off on the fifth hole.  Fowler tees off while Mickelson looks on. Fowler, a Murrieta native, was in contention for the title before a double bogey on the par-4 17th. San Diego's Mickelson shot a 1-over-par 73 in the final round and ended tied for 19th at 8-under.  Over the weekend, renowned swing coach Butch Harmon (middle) was flown in by Mickelson, his most well-known student. Harmon was an astute observer.  Not only was Aussie Robert Allenby in contention at the Farmers Insurance Open, he made headlines by calling out players' usage of old Ping-Eye 2 wedges. Allenby had an up-and-down final round that included a triple bogey on the par-4 17th hole and an eagle on the par-5 18th hole.  Michael Sim, the reigning Nationwide Tour Player of the Year, finished tied for second at 12-under par.  Ben Crane hangs on after hitting his wedge approach into the par-5 18th hole.
