![]() Former San Diego State men's golfer Scott Piercy tees off on the seventh hole of the South course. Piercy, who held the first-round lead after an 8-under-par 64 on the North course, finished in a tie for 20th at 7-under. ![]() After losing his first tee shot in a tree on the par-4 seventh, San Diegan Phil Mickelson was forced to hit another tee shot on the hole as others (including Murrieta native Rickie Fowler) had to wait their turn. ![]() Before Fowler teed off on the seventh hole, he re-fueled with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich — a diet staple of children and, apparently, up-and-coming professional golfers. ![]() Ryuji Imada, who held the lead after 54 holes, struggled with his driving all week. He hit the fairway only 50 percent of the time and slid down into a tie for ninth with a 3-over 75 Sunday. ![]() Murrieta resident Tom Pernice Jr. hits from the rough on the par-5 13th hole — if you've ever wondered how thick the rough is on the South course, you need only look at his left foot, which is completely hidden. Pernice, a 50-year-old who gained entry into the Farmers via a sponsor's exemption, was in contention after 36 holes but faltered over the weekend and finished tied for 48th. ![]() Like Pernice, Torrance native Chris Tidland also struggled on the weekend after engineering a solid opening half in the tournament. The 2009 Nationwide Tour graduate opened with rounds of 65-71 but closed with 75-76.
