“Super Tuesday” brought the United States closer to realizing who its 2008 presidential candidates will be, but it also confirmed a cloud of uncertainty for San Clemente’s Pacific Golf & Country Club. Almost 69 percent of San Clemente residents voted against Measure C, which would have removed nine of the 27 holes at Pacific and replaced the void with a residential development comprising 224 homes. The measure was a referendum petition for a General Plan Amendment passed by the San Clemente City Council last June. Had Measure C been approved by voters, Pacific would have had an opportunity to revamp its property. Now, any foreseeable changes are unclear. “We’re disappointed that the results were not for us,” said club general manager Shahin Vosough. “The club’s in a difficult situation and we need to weigh our options for the future.” For further developments on this story, please check back to southlandgolfmagazine.com. |
