After a successful first run last year, the second edition of the Honors Matches between the Southern California Golf Association and the Southern California PGA is slated to be held Dec. 12-13 at Indian Wells Country Club. TaylorMade-adidas Golf returns as the event sponsor. The SCGA team is comprised of 10 of the region’s top amateurs, while the SCPGA has 10 renowned Southland professionals. Each squad will have two senior representatives. Prominent SCGA competitors include 1996 U.S. Amateur Public Links champion and Northridge resident Tim Hogarth, and 2008 SCGA Player of the year Kevin Marsh of Santa Barbara. East Valley Golf Club’s Dale Abraham (2008 SCPGA Teacher of the Year) and Alhambra Golf Course’s Jerry Wisz (2007 SCPGA Senior Player of the Year) are among members of the SCPGA squad. Each team also has a special honoree — the SCGA is commemorating former state amateur champion Mark Johnson. As of press time, the SCPGA had yet to announce its special honoree. |
