Team Southern California won the second annual Oak Valley Cup Matches by one point over Team Chinese in July at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont. The competition featured boys and girls from the Toyota Tour Cup and the SCPGA Junior Tour. In foursomes, the Southern California boys took 2.5 out of a possible four points and the Southland girls added another point, resulting in an opening round tie at 3.5 points apiece. In the girls four-ball competition, Team Chinese swept all three matches, but the Southern California boys roared to three victories and a tie in their matches, giving Southern California a half-point lead going into final round singles matches. Southern California won seven of 14 individual matches and had one tie to result in a 14.5-13.5 victory. In last year’s event, Southern California won by a margin of 16-8.
