Former USC Trojan Roger Tambellini found the winner's circle for the third time in his Nationwide Tour career after winning the Wayne Gretzky Classic on Sunday.

The 72-hole event took place July 9-12 and was co-hosted by The Georgian Bay Club and Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay in Clarksburg, Ontario, Can.

Tambellini carded four sub-par rounds, including a pair of 66s on Friday and Saturday, to finish at 20-under-par 265 — a new tournament record. He won by four shots over runner-up Blake Adams (269).

For the week, Tambellini was ranked third in putts per green in regulation, averaging just under 1.7, and led the field in both driving accuracy and greens in regulation throughout the week, hitting an astounding 92 percent of the fairways and 87 percent of the greens.

The win scored Tambellini the largest check of his career — $144,017 — bumping him from No. 17 on the Nationwide Tour money list to No. 3. It puts him in prime position to earn his PGA Tour card for a third time in the last five years. The San Luis Obispo native has played two full  years on the PGA Tour, most recently earning $116,685 in 2006.

The victory is Tambellini's fifth top-25 finish of the season and his third top-10 finish. So far on the year he has earned $250,760.
