Kono, who shot a final round 6-under-par 66, closed with consecutive birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to put herself at 9-under-par (207), one stroke ahead of USC’s Jennifer Song. Kono’s performance ultimately helped the Bruins claim the title with an 8-under-par 856, one stroke better than Arizona State. UCLA began the day 12 strokes back. The other four members of the UCLA Women’s golf team, all from Southern California, finished with staggered standings across the leader board. Following Kono were UCLA teammates Tiffany Lua of Rowland Heights (17th with a 1-under-par 215), Sydnee Michales of Temecula (22nd with a 1-over-par 217) and Brianna Do of Long Beach (24th with a 2-over-par 217).
