Upcoming golf events in Southern California

Check out the 2008 Jim Ellis Memorial Golf Classic, Kelly’s Desert Adult/Junior Open and the Tee It Up for the Troops Tournament.


The 2008 Jim Ellis Memorial Golf Classic, hosted by the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Irvine’s Strawberry Farms Golf Club. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Lt. Col. Thomas U. Wall Scholarship Fund. Individual registration fee is $250, while a foursome costs $950. On Sunday, Sept. 21, the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert will host the Kelly’s Desert Adult/Junior Open to benefit the Meals on Wheels program at the Joslyn Senior Center. A $130 entry fee includes green fees for one adult and one junior, a barbecue lunch for both, participation in a Junior Skills Challenge, and the chance to win prizes.
