Who inspired you to become a golf teacher?
The first golf professional I took lessons from and worked for, Ron Mendicino.

What’s the most challenging thing about being a golf teacher?
Making students understand that the progress they want may not be as immediate as they want, that changing habits takes time and effort. Too many students think their changes should be like going to the drive-thru, quick with no effort.

What’s the best tip you’ve ever received?
The true cause and effect of correct alignment.

What’s the most common problem you see in your students?
The average player has never learned to move the ball left to right.

What’s your best round ever and where?
A 65 at Green Meadow Country Club, Helena, Montana.

What’s the most satisfying thing about being a golf teacher?
Seeing the smile on a student’s face when the light clicks in their brain. When they fully understand what we are trying to accomplish.

Who on the PGA Tour do you most admire and why?
Tiger Woods, for all the creativity he has, for his shear power, and for his flair for the dramatic. And Stuart Appleby for his grace and effortlessness with power.

What attracted you to the game?
The time that I spent with my dad, the variety of shots that are required, and the fact that the golf move didn’t discriminate because of your size or strength.

What professional golfer would you most like to be reincarnated as?
Lee Trevino. His determination, his humor and competitive spirit, and his ability to connect with the average golfer.

What’s your greatest achievement?
Being awarded the Pacific Northwest Teaching Professional of the Year, and twice being named the PNW PGA Junior Golf Leader.

Your most treasured golf possession?
Not really a possession, but the times playing golf with my brother, my dad and my son.

What are your favorite golf products?
The Impact Bag and the Speed Stick.

Who are your golf heroes?
Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Tre-vino, and Nick Price.

What phrase do you most overuse on the course?
“You have got to be kidding me!”  SG
