Davis Love III has long been considered one of the game’s best players. Here, he shares his current thoughts.

Glenn: When it comes to the average golfer’s swing, what’s lacking?

Davis: Good golfers have good fundamentals. The average golfer needs better technique, rhythm and balance. Without these factors, the swing looks awkward. My advice is find a good teacher.

Glenn: Your father was a great player and a great teacher. He taught you the swing. What did he stress most?
Davis: He always stressed that you need a big swing and you need to swing at a pace you can control.

Glenn: Is that the lesson for our readers?

Davis: Yes. People swing too hard, too quick and too fast. They jump at the ball, trying to force the ball to go. Learn swing tempo and you’ll be better.
