Heath Slocum

Heath: My swing thought is tempo-based. I think one, two. I try for a smooth backswing, downswing transition.

By Southland Golf MagazinePublished: June, 2007

Heath Slocum credits his dad for building his swing. At 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, he drives the ball 280-plus yards.
Glenn: What have you been working on?
Heath: I’m practicing all of the mechanics of the swing fundamentals.

Glenn: What is your main focus?
Heath: My swing thought is tempo-based. I think one, two. I try for a smooth backswing, downswing transition. Also, I’m trying to get the same shoulder coil every time. This allows me to have the same hand position at the top of the backswing on each swing.

Glenn: It sounds like you’re striving for precision repetition.
Heath: Yes. I’ve become a more consistent and better ball striker. I also have been working on concentration and visualization. Someone my size needs to play smart golf.
