By his own admission, Jimmy Kimmel is nothing less than an embarrassment to the game. The late-night talk-show host has a swing that’s painful to watch. On the first tee at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January, he asked the gallery to turn around and not watch his tee shot, then hit a dribbler about 35 yards. “I’m a terrible golfer,” he has been quoted as saying. Still, despite his lack of golfing ability, Kimmel says he is committed to achieving mediocrity in the game. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Las Vegas, Kimmel currently lives in Los Angeles with his 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. How did you get into golf? Young Carson Daly got me playing golf when I lived in Palm Springs in 1992. What is your handicap? Golf. How often do you get to play? I play about once a year, religiously. I go to church about once a year, too. What are your favorite courses? I feel bad for any course I’m playing on. What course haven’t you played that you want to play? I don’t even think of it that way. Who gives you lessons? I don’t take lessons. There’s no point to it. Including yourself, name three other people in your dream foursome. Huey Lewis, Abraham Lincoln and Jesus. What’s the most money you’ve won on a golf course? I’ve never won a nickel. Most money you’ve lost on a golf course? We don’t do a lot of gambling on the golf course, but I’ve had to buy quite a few lunches. SG |
