Kenneth Gorelick

The saxophone player out of Sherwood Country Club has a passion for the game.

Saxophonist Kenny G is not the usual celebrity-turned-golfer. Kenneth Gorelick was raised in Seattle, Washington and lettered in golf in high school.

He has been a longtime member of Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks and was given a sponsor’s exemption to the Mark Christopher Charity Classic on the Nationwide Tour. He also was recently named Best Musician Golfer by a national golf magazine.

What’s your handicap?
Plus 1.

How did you get in the game?
My brother got me into it when I was 10.

What’s your best round ever and where?
67 at Riviera Country Club.

Your favorite Southern California courses?
Riviera Country Club and Sherwood Country Club.

What course haven’t you played that you would like to?
Pine Valley, I really want to play there.

What do you enjoy most about the game?
It is so challenging.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen on a golf course?
I saw a guy fall out of a golf cart when the driver took the corner too hard. The driver did it on purpose.

Who gives you lessons?
Craig Coy out of Denver at Highland Ranch.

Including yourself, what would be your ultimate foursome?
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Arnold Palmer.

Most embarrassing moment?
I hit a 3-wood off the heel on number 14 at Pebble Beach at the AT&T and it went dead left 50 yards.

If you could change one thing about your game what would it be?
Being able to make a proper shoulder turn.

What is the most money you’ve won on the course?
