MLB.com is reporting an agreement has been signed to sell the San Diego Padres to an investment group that includes Phil Mickelson, San Diego businessman Ron Fowler and relatives of Dodgers founder Peter O'Malley.
According to MLB.com, John Moores, the majority owner of the Padres since 1995, will sell the club for $800 million.
The sale must be approved by Major League Baseball team owners. Their next meeting is Aug. 16 in Denver.
"This brings a long baseball blood line to San Diego," Moores told MLB.com. "I couldn't be more pleased. I feel like I'm handing over the club to the right people."
