Erin Choi of Torrance, CA., has won the American Junior Golf Association Genesis Junior Championship Girls Division after a 4-hole sudden-death playoff. Choi began her final round three strokes out of the lead, but finished with a 2-under-par 69, good enough to vault into a tie with Daniela Darquea of Ecuador, and Danielle Lee of La Mirada, CA. Choi sank a seven-foot birdie putt on the fourth playoff hole to win. “Everything was pretty consistent,” Choi said. “All I had in mind was to just play the best I could, as always, and I guess it worked.” In the Boys Division, Cheng Jin of Singapore, carded a 6-under-par 65 to win. Chase Wheatley, of Corona del Mar, CA., finished the tournament in second at 7-under-par 206. Danny Ochoa, of San Diego, CA., finished third at 6-under-par 207. The championship was a 54-hole stroke play competition played on the par-71, Sycuan Resort - Oak Glen Course. The event featured 90 boys and 41 girls, ages 12-18, from 10 states and 8 countries.
