![]() How did you start playing golf? We were on the road in the ’80s, and at one point we had a day off near Houston. There was a golf course right near our hotel, and we rented clubs and played. We kind of got hooked. We now play routinely on the road. It turns out it’s a fabulous hobby for traveling musicians. Even if you’re in a place like Ohio, there’s always lots of new courses to check out. What’s your handicap? They have me as a 9 here, but I’m an 8 back home. What’s your best round ever? I shot 1-under at my club — the Meadow Club in Marin County. It was funny because I had a bad knee and didn’t think I could play, but I had a game with a couple of other guys and they really wanted to play. I couldn’t really make a turn so I was walking through every shot, a la Gary Player, and I shot 70. Do you have a motto on the course? Have a good time! What’s been your most enjoyable moment in golf? Many years ago at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am — on a Saturday at Poppy Hills — my friend caddying for me decided to leave early because my group was only 9-under through two rounds and not in position to make the cut. My son, who was 12 or 13 at the time, insisted on carrying my Staff bag and could barely get it three inches off the ground. I shot lights out — a 75 gross — and we made the cut. Including yourself, who would make up your ultimate foursome? Katherine Heigl, Cindy Crawford and Pam Anderson!
