Jimmy Fallon

The former Saturday Night Live star was in character during his first trip to the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

BY SOUTHLAND GOLF MAGAZINEPublished: April, 2008

If you watched this year's Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in the Coachella Valley, you probably noticed funnyman Jimmy Fallon up to his familiar antics. We caught up with the Brooklyn native before his second round at La Quinta Country Club and learned that while he may be comical on the links, he won't back down when it comes to a game of video golf.

What's a round with you like?
I'm very fast and very beatable, so I'm really a good guy to invite to golf. I don't take up your whole day, and I don't fool around. I mean, I have fun, but I don't take it seriously.

What's your handicap?
They said to Robert Gamez [in the first round], "What's your handicap," and he pointed at me, which is weird. We had such a good time.

What's the funniest thing you've seen on a golf course?
Besides me playing - which I haven't really seen, I've just lived it - I guess when I do well it's pretty funny. People seem to applaud. It's just so rare.

Best round ever, and where?
Tiger Woods '07 on the PlayStation 3. I got it to the end, so I could pick my own course. I'm really good. I'll beat anyone on the Xbox or Playstation at golf. That's where all my focus goes to - video game golf.

Ever play Golden Tee at the arcade?
Absolutely. But I don't like to show off, so I tend to stay at my house. I've seen people just go at in bars, and there's always one guy whose right arm is so much bigger than his left arm, juicing up to win at Golden Tee.

Most money you've won in golf?
I don't win money, I always end up giving money away. I lost $40 yesterday to [celebrity chef] Ming Tsai.

Including yourself, who would make up your ultimate foursome?
I love comedians, so I'd love to go out with any comedian that loves to golf. Of course, Bill Murray is an idol of mine. They don't even have to golf - I just like the conversation. Steve Martin, Don Rickles - do they golf?
