 What's your handicap? I'm right around a 3 or a 4. Lowest round? A 68 at Turtle Bay in Hawaii. Sounds like you're a serious golfer. Yeah, I'd say so. When I play, I want to shoot a low round. Every time I go out, I'm pretty much thinking, 'I want to shoot my best score.' But it's all about having fun, too. What are you working on right now? My long game's pretty good, but accuracy with my irons is what I'm struggling with right now. Do you have a treasured golf possession? It's kind of silly, but I won this huge Freddie Couples bag at a tournament and I keep all my extra clubs in it. Most money you've won in golf? Not much. I don't gamble that big. It's more about the win than the money. Actually, I made a 15-foot par putt for about $400 one day. Right before I was going to putt, my friend tried to put the pressure on by telling me it was worth $400. But I ended up losing a couple hundred bucks on the last hole. Including yourself, who would make up your ultimate foursome? One of my best friends, Peff, because I always shoot my best rounds with him. He's an older surfer friend, kind of like a father figure to me. I'd have to take somebody in the golf world. Maybe Sam Snead. I heard he was just a vicious gambler and bettor. It'd be interesting to see the games he'd play with you on the course. And Nelson Mandela. I know he holds a golf tournament every year, and his grandson surfs, so I know he knows a little bit about the surf world. |
