Lexi Thompson youngest golfer to win on both sides of the Atlantic

By Patrick MottPublished: December, 2011

What were you doing when you were 16?

Lexi Thompson of Coral Springs, Fla., likely will be able to remember the answer to that question many years from now. On Dec. 18 Thompson won the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters tournament by four strokes, making her the youngest golfer ever to win a Ladies European Tour event.

Her Dubai victory comes three months after she became, also at 16, the youngest player ever to win an LPGA event when she triumphed at the Navistar LPGA Classic.

This is the same Lexi Thompson who became the youngest player—at age 12—to qualify to play in the U.S. Women’s Open and who turned pro at age 15.
