![]() Pala Mesa Golf Resort is a rural oasis in the foothills of north San Diego County. The whooshing sound you’ll hear upon arrival is your stress level dropping as you catch sight of avocado and citrus groves that surround the property in Fallbrook. Stately oaks, sycamores and elms dotting the golf course and hillsides make the 205-acre resort one of the prettiest in the area. Wood and stone features come together beautifully in the California ranch decor throughout the facility, which includes a cozy bar lounge and elegant dining area. The outdoor patio offers a serene retreat with its communal fire ring and koi-pond garden. Live entertainment is offered on Friday and Saturday nights. The latest upgrade at the 133-room resort are executive king guestrooms, each offering 485 square feet of living area, along with a king bed, wet bar, refrigerator and garden or pool view. Sink into a lounge chair on your private deck or patio to enjoy the evening breeze and sunset. The resort’s Aqua Terra restaurant offers innovative California cuisine, with executive chef Sean Sullivan utilizing local produce in his creations, which include a must-have baked avocado appetizer, to-die-for baked brie with honey-roasted pears and candied walnuts, and a delectable parmesan halibut. Couples can exchange vows against a variety of romantic and memorable backdrops, such as a white rose garden surrounded by a 30-foot cascading waterfall and beneath a bell tower with a 700-pound antique mission bell. The 6,502-yard, par-72 golf course is a favorite in the area for its challenges, such as elevation changes and tight fairways. Resort amenities at Pala Mesa also include a swimming pool, whirlpool, fitness center, tennis courts and hiking trails. Guests also can drive 15 minutes north to Temecula, where attractions include the Old Town Temecula historic neighborhood and many wineries.
