![]() Kaanapali Golf Courses Located in the heart of the Kaanapali Beach Resort along a stunning coastline, Kaanapali Golf Courses are easily accessible for guests staying at one of the 11 nearby luxury hotels. With 40 years of tournament history, both the Tournament North and Resort South courses have gained a worldwide reputation as a top golf resort destination. The Resort Course was recently renovated by Robin Nelson — the famed golf architect with more than 30 new and remodeled layouts in Hawaii to his credit — and boasts all new bunkering and greens. With stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains, the 6,400-yard, par-70 South Course is a delight to play and places a premium on strategy off the tee, accuracy with approaches and a deft short game. As part of a two-year, $13 million investment to enhance Kaanapali’s golf facilities, Nelson is also overseeing renovations to the Tournament North Course, which began in April 2006. “We are excited to upgrade the historic Tournament North Course,” said PGA general manager Ed Kageyama. “Robin’s renovations will be more of a nip-tuck approach than a complete overhaul — with new bunkering and added landscaping to combine for a visually striking layout.” Like the Resort South Course, Tifeagle Bermuda grass will be used on the North’s greens. The tees, fairways and rough will be converted to a hybrid Bermuda variety. “The new greens are a revelation to putt,” Kageyama said. “Not only do the surfaces roll quick and true, this premier turf grass brings out the subtleties of Nelson’s brilliant greens.” Guests can look forward to an enhanced look and feel to the Kaanapali experience on the North Course when it reopens mid-November. With all the recent changes at the Kaanapali Golf Courses, guests will be happy to know that one thing has remained the same: the true aloha spirit of the staff. Well-known for their smiles and warm, welcoming service, the Kaanapali team makes guests feel at home 365 days a year. Puakea Golf Kauai’s Puakea Golf Course beat stiff competition for 4th place on Hawaii Magazine’s best courses list. It’s all the more noteworthy considering three other Garden Island courses are among Conde Nast Traveler’s Top 100 Golf Resorts of 2005. Puakea’s stellar reputation is as impressive as its outstanding “Juniors Play Free Program.” Any junior (ages 7-18) accompanied by a paying adult plays free Monday through Friday from June 1 through August 31, 2006. This offers a fun, healthy activity for vacationing families this summer. Set at the base of Mount Ha’upu, rounds on the par-71, 7,000-yard routing are exhilarating. Playing through deep ravines, Puakea crosses mountain-fed streams, treating golfers to stunning beauty. With four sets of tees, the course is suitable for all levels of play. Showcasing Kauai’s magic, Puakea’s natural beauty, casual charm and friendly staff offer a unique golfing experience. For more information, visit www.puakeagolf.com, or call (866) 773-5554. |
