![]() Temecula Creek Inn personifies that freedom. One of the earliest staples of the Inland Empire golf landscape, the 300-acre site features three nine-hole layouts, a bucolic hotel and access to an array of attractions in the Temecula Valley. “You’ve got the best of all worlds here,” said Rob Oosterhuis, PGA director of golf operations for JC Resorts, which manages the facility. The Oaks and Creek nines are traditional layouts lined with trees, with the Stonehouse nine featuring elevation changes and difficult tee shots. “Stonehouse is probably the most unique nine holes that golfers are going to see,” Oosterhuis said. What all the courses have in common is superb conditioning, especially on the greens, and a tranquil atmosphere thanks to a relatively secluded setting near the San Jacinto Mountains. Golfers looking to improve their game can do so at the Temecula Creek Inn Golf School. Under the guidance of instructor Cary Schoen, the school offers a variety of stay-and-play packages revolving around teaching sessions that utilize the most advanced analysis methods. The resort’s hotel also houses advanced amenities, including a redesigned lobby, pool, Jacuzzi, fitness room and 42-inch plasma-screen TVs in most rooms. But that modern touch doesn’t rob the property of its retreat-like vibe. The woodsy grounds are soothing no matter the time of day despite being only about an hour away from Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties. “We’re current and hip even though we have kind of a rustic design,” said General Manager Jason Curl. It’s difficult to single out the best amenity at Temecula Creek Inn, though a top candidate is the Creekside Guest House (pictured). The 1,900-square-foot structure, located just beyond the ninth holes of the Oaks and Creek courses, features three guestrooms, a living room complete with plasma-screen TVs, a DVD player and fireplace, a game room and a practice putting green.“Whether planning a bachelor party or rehearsal dinner in wine country, a guys golf getaway or a fun-filled family reunion, groups obtain a real sense of privacy and personal service,” Curl said. That service extends to the Temet Grill, one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the Inland Empire. The fare is conducive to breakfast or lunch diners who want a meal before a round, or for dinner guests seeking a perfect conclusion to the day. If you’re a seafood fan, make sure to try the Dungeness crab cakes (no filler), and for steak lovers, there’s a choice between a grilled filet mignon and a chargrilled ribeye. Choice extends beyond Temecula Creek Inn, which is located near popular casinos and wineries. The resort staff is more than happy to help you plan trips in the area. Another way in which the Inn’s staff accommodates guests is through an array of stay-and-play packages, especially for groups. From now until the end of August, book at least six rooms any night from Sunday through Thursday and each guest enjoys accommodations and one 18-hole round of golf for $99 (rate is $148 on Friday and Saturday). A single occupancy stay-and-play package that includes three hours of instruction at the Academy and unlimited golf starts at $602. Temecula Creek Inn also has a superb offer for group golf packages. From now until the end of September, book an outing with 16 or more golfers and get a $45 rate Monday through Thursday.
