![]() Designed by Tom Lehman and located near Scottsdale, Encanterra has more turf tee to green than traditional desert layouts in Arizona. The grass isn’t necessarily greener at Encanterra Golf and Country Club, but it definitely is more plentiful than at your typical desert course. The layout designed by Tom Lehman has 149 acres of turf from tee to green and fairway to fairway, compared to an average of 80 acres on a majority of desert venues. The 7,172-yard layout also has eight lakes and water coming into play on 13 holes, making it as picturesque as it is plush. The diversified touches and gorgeous conditions helped the course in Queen Creek, Ariz., about a half-hour drive from Scottsdale, earn a Top 10 New Private Course distinction from Golf Magazine in January 2009 and a Best New Course nod by Golfweek last October. “People who play a lot of desert-type golf will be pleasantly surprised when they see it,” said Chris Schwartz, director of golf at Encanterra. “Tom Lehman built a world-class course, and our staff is thrilled to be a part of it. Being recognized nationally lets us know that we’ve got a great course for our residents and guests, and we plan to keep it that way.” The golf course is the centerpiece of Encanterra, A Trilogy Country Club, a private residential community developed by Shea Homes that broke ground in 2008. A 60,000-square-foot resort-style clubhouse, named LaCasa, was completed in February and enhances the spirit of camaraderie the site is striving to attain. The facility includes a golf shop, athletic club, spa, indoor and outdoor pools, a business center, ballroom, indoor and outdoor event spaces, four casual and upscale dining options and a full-service concierge. “We are really proud of LaCasa and how it will enhance the experience of residents,” said Ben Keilholtz, director of marketing and sales for Blue Star Resort & Golf, the club manager for Encanterra. “It’s like adding 60,000 square feet to a resident’s home because of all the amenities available. This will add to the community feel we’re striving for, and hopefully it will inspire interaction among homeowners. We’re eager for people to check it out.” Encanterra offers three home collections ranging from quaint to elegant, with 14 floor plans and an array of exterior designs to choose from. Residences range from 1,400 to 3,600 square feet, and options such as outdoor kitchens, rolling glass walls, finished garages and one- and two-story models are available. “We’re going to exceed expectations far beyond what anyone could ever imagine,” said Jeff Teich, general manager at Encanterra. “It’s exciting to be part of this team. Whether it’s a person’s primary home or second home, they’re going to enjoy a world-class experience. I think we’ll be setting the bar high for others in the private industry sector in terms of our amenities and what we provide.” For more information about home costs or membership options, call (800) 685-6494 or visit encanterra.com.
