Aliante Station is a popular resort with people in the Las Vegas area who know a good deal when they see one.

There’s a saying in the hospitality industry that tourists only like to be tourists once. Translated, that means the first time someone experiences a destination, they’re eager to enjoy the most-visited sites and attractions. But, on subsequent visits, tourists want to hang with the locals.

For Southern Californians, nowhere is that more possible than Las Vegas, where it’s possible to discover some excitement away from the Strip.

Though golf courses near the Strip get the most publicity, there are dozens more in Summerlin, Henderson, North Las Vegas and other surrounding cities that offer top-notch layouts.

“This is definitely the best time of the year to travel here,” said Lori Nelson, director of communication for Station Casinos, which operates 18 properties off the Strip. “The weather is fabulous and with the economy being what it is, it’s more affordable than ever.”

The newest property managed by Station Casinos is Aliante Station, a $662 million resort that opened in North Las Vegas last November. Like Station Casinos’ two other resorts — Red Rock Resort in Summerlin and Green Valley Ranch in Henderson — Aliante Station was developed with “the idea of catering to locals,” Nelson said. “Over time, people started asking hospitality workers and dealers and such where they liked to play and stay, since many of us only want to be tourists once and want to go where the locals go.”

Aliante Station offers all the amenities of Strip properties but on a more economic scale, Nelson said.

“It’s a better value for the dollar, which everyone is looking for these days, but the quality is on par, if not better, than the Strip,” she said. “It’s a beautifully designed resort made with high-end materials, great restaurants, exceptional gaming and everything else.”

Amenities include a 200-room hotel, the Access Showroom, fine dining, a 16-screen movie theater with an IMAX screen and “an absolutely amazing sports book with hundreds of plasma screens,” Nelson said.

The resort offers a golf stay-and-play package that includes two nights and four rounds at Angel Park, Legacy or Aliante golf courses, for $169 double occupancy.
