The three-year-old Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach has been named the No. 1 resort in the United States by Conde Nast Traveler magazine in its 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards.The awards honor the world’s best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels and resorts, as selected by the magazine’s readers. Since opening in November 2008, the resort has earned a AAA Five-Diamond Award, its spa has been ranked with five stars by Forbes magazine, and its two golf courses designed by Tom Fazio have been ranked by Golf Digest magazine as among America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. The resort also has been recognized for excellence by Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report, Travel + Leisure magazine and the Los Angeles Times, among others.
