![]() Short got the travel bug growing up, going with her parents “to a different state every summer.” She opened Worldwide Golf and Travel with a simple business plan: provide the same great service she likes. When Short first picked up a golf club nearly 40 years ago, she immediately fell in love with the game. Over the course of her golfing life she’s played in numerous LPGA pro-ams, including one foursome that included Nancy Lopez and Bob Hope. These days she tees it up twice a week at Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach and plans golf trips for people who love to combine good golf with new cultural experiences. “When you travel [to these courses] the golf is excellent,” Short said of her favorite destinations listed below. “But you’re not just going to play golf, you’re going to see the rest of the country. When you tie them both together, that’s what makes the destinations really charming.” Royal Dar-Es-Salam Golf Club, Rabat, Morocco: “It’s just an absolutely magnificent course. Plus the people in Morocco are just kind, loving people.” Gleneagles Hotel, Auchterarder, Scotland: “You’re playing more realistic courses there. It’s such a beautiful place.” Spring City Golf and Lake Resort, Kunming, China: “They have two courses. One’s on the water, the other is in the mountains. It’s really an exceptional place. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. The care is magnificent. China has some of the most gorgeous golf courses you have ever seen.” Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho: “It’s one of the loveliest places if you’re stateside.” Galway Bay Golf and Country Club, Galway, Ireland: “It’s right on a cliff overlooking the water. While you’re playing golf, to the left of you cows are just roaming around. It’s just amazing!” |
