Seaside Wonder

Luxury destination resorts abound on the Southland coast these days, a proliferation fueled by demand for drive-to vacation spots and the last-chance grab for oceanfront property.

Luxury destination resorts abound on the Southland coast these days, a proliferation fueled by demand for drive-to vacation spots and the last-chance grab for oceanfront property. Small wonder, then, that Lowe Enterprises early last month sold all 51 two- and three-bedroom casitas and villas planned for the first phase of its upcoming Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, with prices beginning just shy of $2 million and nearly reaching $3 million per unit.

As Lowe, a real estate development giant with properties around the country, explains in its press kit, its aim is to provide “a highly desirable coastal destination in this small, affluent seaside community” with a $320 million, bluff-top resort built on 102 acres with more than a mile of coastline.

Terranea promises an ultra-luxury lifestyle with amenities such as a 25,000-square-foot oceanfront spa and fitness facility overlooking the Pacific, a golf academy, shoreline parks, trails and overlooks, casual and fine dining restaurants and 6,000 square feet of boutique and service shops. And you’re certainly close enough to enjoy a round at Trump National Golf Club.

Terranea owners and guests will enjoy luxury Spanish Mediterranean-style accommodations, which range in size from 1,850 to 2,800 square feet. The casitas will feature custom cabinetry and millwork, beamed ceilings, gourmet kitchens, laundry rooms and spacious private outdoor living spaces. Three floor plans offer two bedrooms and a den to three bedrooms and a den, along with two-car garages, professional-style gourmet kitchens and laundry rooms.
