![]() Playing only 6,535 yards from the back tees, the course, which opened in 1993, puts a premium on shot placement without necessarily taking the driver out of your hands. The course opens with three great holes. The first is a 361-yard par-4 with an elevated tee and a creek that protects the left side of the fairway. A short approach to the first green reveals subtle putting surfaces that are well-groomed and roll at an entertaining pace. The par-5 second hole is also protected by the creek. At 500 yards, a well- placed drive brings the opportunity of going for the green in two, but being one of the tightest holes on the course, laying up might be the best option for birdie. The third hole — a 194-yard par-3 — is the first stiff test of the round. Tee shots must clear the creek and land on a relatively narrow green. Out-of-bounds stakes on the left add to the intrigue. The front nine ends with another short par-4 that places a premium on finding the fairway off the tee. A water feature protects the front and left side of the green on this 370-yard hole. The back nine begins with a 207-yard par-3 that sets the stage for five consecutive par-4s that are similar in distance but require different strategies. The most intriguing is the 15th hole, a 350-yard par-4 with a multi-tiered fairway that bends sharply to the left where water awaits errant tee shots. The round draws to a close with the longest hole on the course — a 561-yard par-5 that gets more demanding as players approach the elevated, three-tiered green. Being a JC Resort property, the course features excellent customer service and a player-friendly atmosphere. There is a nice grass practice tee and a practice putting green that simulates course conditions. n |
